I wove this hand towel while demonstrating at the 55th annual Sheep to Shawl at the New Mexico State Fair. My weaving guild, the Las Arañas Spinners and Weavers Guild of Albuquerque, has been demonstrating fiber arts at the fair since the early 1970s. Our demonstrations include natural dyeing, weaving on 4 and 8 shaft looms, spinning wool, shearing sheep, and carding fibers. It’s one of my favorite events of the year, because I get to share the process and history of weaving with visitors.
