Prairie Pine, handwoven hand towel with cotton warp and wool weft, primary view

Prairie Pine

2026 – 25 x 18.5 in (64 x 47 cm)

Cotton warp threads and wool weft threads

I wove this hand towel as a live demonstration at the 55th annual Sheep to Shawl at the New Mexico State Fair. My guild, the Las Arañas Spinners and Weavers Guild of Albuquerque, has been demonstrating fiber arts at the fair since the early 1970s, from natural dyeing and spinning wool to shearing sheep, carding fibers and weaving on 4 and 8 shaft looms. It’s one of my favorite events of the year, because it lets me share the process and history of weaving with visitors.
