Organic cotton, plain weave with hand-manipulated Brooks Bouquet lace weave structure

During my first summer in Mexico, I set out to experiment with lace structures and natural cotton to make a piece I could wear through the warmer months. After several rows of plain weave on my rigid heddle loom, I worked the Brooks Bouquet lace by hand, which gives the cloth a textured, dimensional surface. The raised, gathered rows remind me of tree roots pushing up through the floor of an ancient forest.
